This isn’t ideal, but they’re hoping to take the English by surprise. Therefore, he wastes no time in preparing for a coronation.Īs the Vikings make their way towards London, they camp just outside the city in the southern marshes. Queen Emma is far from impressed by Edmund’s attitude, but Godwin - despite beating him up for his arrogance - believes that England needs Edmund to be King for the battle to come. He seems to be a pretty impressive fighter, but Godwin is unconvinced, so he decides to face Edmund himself, and beats him senseless. There’s a great scene in the courtyard when advisor Earl Godwin (David Oakes) watches Edmund practice his sword-fighting skills against the guards. In London, Edmund is convinced that he must lead his army against the Norsemen on the battlefield, even if everyone around him thinks it’s a bad idea. Clearly, they would’ve liked the chance to kill Ethelred themselves, but his son will do.

That said, their quest for revenge remains unchanged. While raiding the village, they quickly learn that King Ethelred has died, meaning his son Edmund is set to take the throne. Especially Leif, who’s come a long way since killing his first-ever person in the last episode. It’s cool to see Leif and Harald finally get their hands dirty in a battle. The episode opens as they raid a small village in a terrific action sequence. The Vikings have landed in Kent on the south coast of England, and everything seems to be going according to plan. Bernard Walsh/Netflix © 2021 Episode Three: “The Marshes” (L to R) Leo Suter as Harald in episode 103 of Vikings: Valhalla. It's like no one gives a sh*t about what you have to say.Vikings: Valhalla. My biggest issue with the dialogues is that sure, there are options here, but none of them really affect anything. Will post more impressions once I've played more and completed some major plot points.įew side quests good and don't ignore Valka quests and i suggest choose - Let Animus decide Eivor gender option Also, I've been ignoring the side quests and focusing on the main quest so that more of the game map is available to play. Its too soon to tell, but I'm liking the game so far. Overall, I feel this game feels more closer to a proper RPG, compared to the previous games which were mostly open world action/adventure, where the RPG elements felt like an afterthought. The main character can choose from an array of dialogues unlike the previous ones where cut-scenes where mostly non-interactive. I guess these are restrictive and might need some counter to fill up etc., tried it only once though. There are additional abilities which gives more moves to Evior, which get unlocked via some artifacts found by in-game exploration. The skill trees are also vastly improved, with each sub-tree having its own specialization (ex: a special move) and leading to more sub-trees upon completing all the nodes in them. The combat is revamped, kinda similar to dark souls now - with parry / stamina thrown in apart from the regular light/heavy/dodge as seen in previous games.

The premise is much more interesting compared to AC:Origins, and the character Evior actually feel more etched out, as compared to bayek, who mostly felt like a walking/talking cardboard cutout most of the time. Also, I could not find any option for RT in the in-game menu options, assuming the game doesn't support it.

There're not much options to fiddle around with in-game graphics menu though. The hills, water, everything seems to be better modeled compared to the previous games. The snow clad setting in Norway seems far more beautiful than compared to the arid deserts of the previous games. The game is pretty, the draw distances are breathtaking.

Here're some initial impressions, do note that I haven't played odyssey, so I'm mostly comparing it to AC:Origins :
#Valhalla hills impressions 1080p
Set to the highest settings (ultra high), and on average I was getting around 100 FPS at 1080p as per the in-game stats. So played around 2.5 hours yesterday, had to break as it was getting late, but what I played was good.
